I have been teaching for 5 years in New York City public schools. I started out as a TFA corps member and now teach at a special education inclusion, charter school in Harlem. I'm also a doctoral student here at Fordham in the Language, Literacy, and Learning program. I'll be starting my dissertation in the fall--the study will likely be on African-American adolescents' language attitudes towards code-switching between African-American English and Standard English.

Outside of school, I'm an avid reader. Novels tend to be my indulgence when I have the time (Phillip Roth, Jhumpa Lahiri, and Paul Auster are some of my favorites!), and I'm always looking for new book suggestions. Chocolate chip cookies and milk is my all time favorite treat. I love New York in the summer, and I'm counting down the days till winter thaws.

I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you!
